“In the contemporary conditions of scientific and technological development in all areas of human activity, the continuous updating of the knowledge of lecturers and researchers in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is an essential requirement, particularly in a global economic and financial crisis.

Defining long-term research tasks in this field is of strategic importance, which is even more relevant for young researchers, assistants, and doctoral students.

A number of Bulgarian universities with ICT departments regularly organize prestigious international scientific events in the form of conferences, seminars, and workshops, with the participation of prominent international scholars and lecturers in this field.

On this basis, the conference aims to:

• Identify current issues related to the application of ICT in economics;
• Identify advanced research areas of long-term importance in the field of ICT with regard to their application in economics and education;
• Identify opportunities for applying the most modern ICT tools, methods, methodologies, and information systems in economics and education;
• Establish a scientific forum for disseminating the achievements of UNWE researchers in the field of ICT and enhancing the international prestige of UNWE;
• Develop international cooperation with European and global universities;
• Give special attention to teaching methods with the aim of improving teaching qualifications, particularly those of young teaching assistants.”

Conference organized by the Department of Information Technologies and Communications on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Department's establishment – ICAICTEE 2012, International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technology in Economy and Education.

The  International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technology in Economy and Education (ICAICTEE-2012) which will take place on October 4 – 5, 2012 at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia,  Bulgaria.
