Regional issues continue to be relevant in the political, economic and social agenda of society.

In regional development, an integrated approach, which requires closer coordination of public policies, is extremely important. Such coordination is most effective at the regional level, as the growth factors vary considerably between regions. The growing disparities between regions and districts in Bulgaria in recent years confirm this objective need.

It is also necessary focusing on the sphere of European territorial cooperation in its three dimensions (interregional, cross-border and transnational), which extends regional development beyond our national borders.
