Since 2023, the Department of Media and Public Communication at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria in it capacity as a UNESCO Chair on Media and Information Literacy and Cultural Policies for Sustainable Development organises the National Media and Information Literacy Forum commemorating the Global Media Literacy Week in October.

So far, the three forums had various significant topics realated to media and information literacy:

In 2023 the idea was for the UNESCO Chair to host all stakeholders in the field and align all efforts to make the media and information literacy a national priority and to include it in the different stages of formal education. More HERE

In 2024 the main topic was "Sustainable Funding of Media and Information Literacy in Bulgaria", focusing if the financial aspects and projects supporting MIL as well as sharing experience on finding the right funding sources. More HERE

In 2025 the focus shifted on "MIL in Bulgaria: the Citizen Approach" including panels regarding audience policies and civix development. More HERE
