In 2013 the Economics Department participated in the competition for financing of projects from the Scientific Research Activity fund to the UNWE by two projects:

• Government Efficiency As a Factor for the Competitiveness of Bulgaria, Scientific Head of the project - Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Marikina
•  Competitive Opportunities in the "Green Economy" and Forming a Model of Social Ecology in Bulgaria, Scientific Head of the project – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vanya Ivanova

Both projects are approved and ranked and it continues the tradition of successful participation and presentation of the scientific collectives from the Department in the university scientific research projects.
